Biography

Dr. Eric Monesmith is a total joint replacement surgeon at OrthoIndy and the Indiana Orthopaedic Hospital (IOH) who specializes in the treatment of arthritic knees and hips.

A graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Monesmith completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Loyola University Medical Center. After completing his residency, he pursued advanced training in total joint replacement and cartilage transplantation, completing the prestigious Aufranc Fellowship in constructive joint surgery at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. He then was awarded the Schwartz Traveling Fellowship and studied cartilage transplantation in Gothenberg, Sweden, and hip replacement in Exeter, England.

A past president of the Indiana Orthopaedic Society and current board member of OrthoIndy, Dr. Monesmith - better known as Eric to his patients - recently led his medical services abroad to victims of the Haiti earthquake that struck January 2010. Dr. Monesmith spent a week just north of Port Au Prince at the Hospital Sacré Coeur where he helped treat patients that were referred there in the aftermath of the quake.
